The following was sent via email today to all registered participants of RE BarCamp SD. If you haven’t registered yet, here is what ya missed!
————-
Hello Camper!
We hope you are getting excited about RE BarCamp San Diego which is just around the corner! The learning and networking opportunities at this event will be outstanding as we have 500+ people registered for the event. Here are a few things to know in preparation for Thursday:
- Directions to the Stingaree, as well as parking information can be found here
- Registration opens at 8:00 am
- Coffee will be available at the venue
- RE BarCamp SD will start promptly at 9:00 am with a BRIEF orientation to how the day works and the process of formulating the session schedule for the day. If you have never been to a RE BarCamp, you won’t want to miss this part. And, if you are hoping to facilitate a session, you must be present at this time to be included in the process.
- The first 400 participants to check in will receive a little something extra. The original budget accounted for 400 attendees but we just couldn’t fathom turning interested people away, and historically, because it is a free event, some people who register have not shown (shocking, we know). Since the success of the day is about participation, we will be rewarding those who arrive first with any perks that were included in the budget for the anticipated crowd of 400. So, it doesn’t matter when you registered, it matters when you check in. If you want to get the most out of the day, be one of the first 400 to arrive!
- There is internet access at the venue (wireless at 3 megabits). With the quantity of attendees, it is likely to be very slow, so if you have a wireless card, bring it.
- Session Information:
- Sessions will be ½ hour long.
- The session board will be determined the day of the event, based on the learning interest, and facilitation talent of those who show up. NO sales pitches will be allowed on the session board…please don’t try…this is not what RE BarCamp is about.
- When you registered, you took a poll asking what you hoped to learn at RE BarCamp SD. If you have something to add to that, you will have the opportunity to during the registration process at the beginning of the day.
- If you have hopes of facilitating a session, know that a few of the break out areas will have projectors and screens, so bring your notebook. Upon registration, you will have the opportunity to write down any sessions that you are interested in facilitating. We will pair this with the interest list. Facilitation of a session is not guaranteed and will be based on the perceived interest of the campers in attendance.
- Lunch is from 12:30 – 1:45 and each camper is responsible for their own lunch. There are ample locations within walking distance of the Stingaree to grab something to eat. Need to schedule something in advance? Contact the Bar Camp Concierge for help with your lunch or dinner reservations while in San Diego (see further details here)
- Don’t forget the post event Happy Hour on the rooftop of the Stingaree sponsored by NAR! The party will kick off at 5:00 pm and will be THE place to mingle with your newfound RE BarCamp friends and reconnect with RE BarCamp friends from events past.
The organizers of RE BarCamp SD want to thank all our sponsors for their generous support of this event. Without them, this event wouldn’t be possible, and more important, it wouldn’t be FREE for you to attend! Please join us in thanking them: Here They Are!!!
We’ll see you Thursday!

ReBarCamp SD will make its debut in the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego.
This 16 block city center is packed with hundreds of restaurants, shops, bars and hotels. With all the excitement, it’s important to come in with a plan.
- Directions to Stingaree
- Follow this link to a Google Map with directions to Stingaree — 454 6th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101
- The Gaslamp was built on a grid with Lettered Streets heading east/west and Numbered Avenues heading north/south.
- Stingaree is on the corner of 6th Avenue and Island
- Parking Options
- While meter parking may be tempting, they max out at 2 hours.
- The best option is to park in one of the many nearby lots. Click on the graphic map above to view a colorful take on your parking options. The closest lots are highlighted in yellow.
- Most day lots cost just $10 if you are out by midnight.
- Don’t be Late for Registration
- Registration starts at 8:00 — don’t be late!
- We will begin at 9:00 sharp!
- Come Prepared and Ready to Participate
- There is no dress code for Bar Camp. Come as you are; be relaxed and comfortable.
- Unlike most conventions, Bar Camp is governed by the Campers. You choose what break out sessions to attend and what to take from the event.
- We don’t have any prescripted notes for you — because the scripts have yet to be written. That said, you may want to bring a notebook/pen or mini recorder to capture some of the great ideas that will be floating around.
- Pack business cards – you never know who you may meet! To my fellow iPhone users, I recommend downloading the Bump Application. It’s my favorite way ever to share contact information without having to write anything down or keep track of small pieces of paper.
- Make a Night of it!
- Once we have exhausted ourselves of social media break outs, it’s upstairs to the Roof Top Bar for an After Party!
- This year’s party is sponsored by NAR and it is the perfect place to continue conversations and make new connections.
- There are so many fabulous restaurants in the Gaslamp. Keep the evening going by having our Personal Concierge hook you up with dinner reservations.

Just because the “schedule” ends at 5:00 doesn’t mean you have to rush off! Some of the best value of REBarCamp is from the connections and discussion that occur after the event. And, since REBarCamp SD is being hosted at a bar and restaurant, it is no great surprise that the post event happy hour will occur right there on the rooftop of the Stingaree. The happy hour will be hosted by NAR. Plan to stick around and debrief, mingle, and have some fun!
